SSC JE 2024

The SSC JE (Junior Engineer) Examination 2024 will be held in June. The Staff Selection Commission will announce the exam date and release the notification on the official website, ssc.nic.in.

Eligibility criteria

1. Border Roads Organization (exclusively open to male candidates):

JE©: Needs a minimum of two years of experience in designing, carrying out, or maintaining civil engineering projects.

Also accepts a three-year diploma in civil engineering.

Maximum age: thirty years old.

JE (E&M): Requires a minimum of two years of experience in the designing, carrying out, or maintaining of electrical or mechanical engineering works.

Alternatively, candidates may choose to pursue a three-year diploma in electrical, automotive, or mechanical engineering.

2. Brahmaputra Board, Jal Shakti Ministry:

A three-year diploma in civil engineering is required for JE©.

Maximum age: thirty years old.

3. Commission for Central Water:

JE (M): Needs a mechanical engineering diploma or bachelor’s degree.

Maximum age: thirty years old.

JE©: Needs a diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

4. Department of Central Public Works (CPWD):

JE (E): Needs a mechanical or electrical engineering diploma.

Maximum age: 32 years old.

JE©: Needs a Civil Engineering diploma.

5. Central Research Station for Water and Power:

JE(E): Needs an Electrical Engineering diploma.
JE©: Needs a civil engineering diploma.

Maximum age: thirty years

6. DGQA-NAVAL, Defense Ministry:

JE(M): Needs a mechanical engineering degree or a three-year diploma in the field, together with appropriate work experience.
JE(E): Requires a three-year diploma in electrical engineering with applicable experience, or a degree in electrical engineering.

7. Project of Farakka Barrage, Ministry of Jal Shakti:

JE(E): Needs an Electrical Engineering diploma.

Maximum age: thirty years old.

JE©: Needs a Civil Engineering diploma.

8. Services for Military Engineers (MES):

JE©: Needs three years of civil engineering diploma or degree, as well as prior experience designing, carrying out, and maintaining civil engineering projects.

Maximum age: thirty years old.

JE (E&M): Requires a three-year diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with applicable experience, or a degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

9. Organization for National Technical Research (NTRO):

JE©: Needs a Civil Engineering diploma.

Maximum age: thirty years old.

Exam Pattern

The SSC Junior Engineer Examination will be taken in two papers and on a computer-based.

 

A 1/third negative marking will be there for each wrong answer.

PAPER – I (2 hours)

  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning:
    • Total Marks: 50
    • Total Questions: 50
    • This section likely tests candidates’ logical and analytical thinking abilities, including topics such as analogies, classification, series completion, coding-decoding, etc.
  2. General Awareness:
    • Total Marks: 50
    • Total Questions: 50
    • This section aims to assess candidates’ knowledge of current events, general science, history, geography, economics, and other relevant topics.
  3. General Engineering:
    • Total Marks: 100
    • Total Questions: 100
    • Divided into three parts: Civil & Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical.
    • Candidates will likely have to choose one part based on their specialization or preference.
    • This section evaluates candidates’ understanding of basic concepts and principles in engineering within the chosen discipline.

Paper II (2 hours)

     General Engineering:

  • Total Marks: 100
  • Total Questions: 300
  • Divided into three parts: Civil & Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical.
  • Candidates must choose one part based on their specialization or preference.
  • This section likely covers more in-depth concepts and applications within the chosen engineering discipline compared to Paper-I.
